Answering his critics always ready with a fistfull of mud the President used the occasion in a statement from the Rose Garden to talk about world peace and those who dedicate their lives to it.

“I do not view it as a recognition of my accomplishments…I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of the men and women who have inspired this Prize.”
