Biking through Philly on Earth Day trying to drink in as much floral and tree colors as possible. Thinking of Tennessee Williams great poem in Night of the Iguana which begins

How calmly does the olive branch
observe the sky
begin to blanch
without a cry without a prayer
with no betrayal of despair.

Hard not to think what is betrayed on earth, on this 40th earth day.  But, I spot the eagle in Rittenhouse Sq. as a promontory of hope.  Meanwhile, there are blooms.
